Setting Up your Water Butt

Once you have bought your water butt and got it home or had it delivered you will start to see the real results. Place your water butt in a place which is convenient and easy for you to get to. You have many options you can leave your water butt with the lid off to collect rainwater or you can use a rainwater diverter which will divert the rainwater from a roof top or down pipe.

Using a Rainwater Diverter

Cut out a 26mm circular hole 40mm from the top and insert the small connection piece. This needs to be done from the inside of the water butt. Secure it in place with the plastic nut provided.

Taking a level line from the bottom of the hole, mark the rainwater pipe to be cut. From this line mark a second line 30mm above it. Then cut the rainwater pipe on both marks and fit the rain diverter making sure the directional arrow points down.

Cutting the connecting pipe ( if required ) and fit to the rain diverter and to the connection piece on the tank.

Water Butt Rainwater

You now our at the point where you have saved enough rainwater and your water butt is half full. Well you can apply a tap to the bottom outlet and draw the water when you need to. Your water can be used for so many different things such as car washing, window cleaning, watering your garden, washing down the patio, water for your pressure washer, water features and more...
